About Us

The Scott Gordon Memorial Scholarship was put together by friends of Scott Gordon following his untimely death in 1998. It is unique in that it not only remembers Scott, but it rewards athletes that endured similar circumstances to his own.

Once a year, a senior athlete from Waverly Central High School is chosen to receive the award based on the scholarship qualifications. The winner is chosen by the varsity coaches, but anyone can nominate someone for consideration. Click here to go to the nomination page and fill out an application. The award is presented at the annual WCHS athletic banquet each May, so all nominations should be received by April.

The primary method of fundraising for the scholarship is the annual golf tournament. It is usually held at the Waverly Country Club between May and July each year. The cost is around $250 per foursome, and all proceeds go to the scholarship fund. Hole sponsorships are also available. In addition, the fund accepts contributions at any time.

The Scott Gordon Memorial Scholarship is classified as a 509 (a) (2) public charity by the Internal Revenue Service. All contributions are tax deductible, and the Federal Employer Identification Number for tax purposes is 62-1808642.
